QUEEN’S ROAD WEST NO. 1

Queen’s Road West No.1 is a grade 3 tenement house. According to AMO’s record, it was built before 1926. The building is commonly known as “Yau Kee Hop”, a cured meat shop once operated at this location. This project is to renovate the interior into usable art spaces without changing the original configuration; to improve the water-tightness of the whole building, and to restore the external façade to its former appearance. Great efforts had been made to remove
the paint layers on the terrazzo columns at ground level, and to restore the damaged part of the terrazzo columns and name plaques at the first floor.
