YUEN LONG HA TSUEN YEUNG HAU TEMPLE
The existing Yeung Hau Temple was reconstructed in 1811, it is a building of two halls-three bays layout. Since the rare wall of the Main Hall was observed tilted slightly, our scope was to restore the tilted wall to its original position without demolition. First, construct a metal frame at the external side of the tilted wall as the anchor point for hydraulic jack, at the same time, set up another metal frame at the internal side as protection. Remove mortars along bricks where tilting begins,
and then push the wall bit by bit to upright position. Granite wedges were added to stabilize widened pointing, and steel bars were added to reduce lateral tension. This highly difficult project was completed in success, which became a precedent case of wall-rectification of historic building in Hong Kong.
